Team News: Vogel Racing Gearing Up for 2007

Written By: Vogel Racing

(February 4th, 2007 - St. Louis, MO) -- The mid winter blues have turned into a flurry of activity at Vogel Racing. We have selected classes for 2007 and have set a tentative schedule. Grant will be running 80cc Comer and Yamaha Jr. Sportsman. Christian will be running JICA, TAG Jr., and Yamaha Jr. The boys will be running the STARS East Series and WKA Manufacturer’s cup races within reasonable driving distance.

All the karts are in the basement in various forms of disassembly, waiting on assorted parts and upgrades. The boys will be running Intrepid karts, with the exception of Grant in Yamaha Jr. Sportsman. Intrepid does not have a really good chassis fit for this class, so we are shopping around. We love the cadet style kart, and 40” rule has got us searching for something purpose built. In the end, we don’t want to bring a knife to a gunfight! More on that later…..

For 2007, Vogel Racing will be teaming up with the Devon Nichols racing team for most of our trips, and are looking forward to our time with the Johnsons this summer.

Dan Bressler will be returning as the tuner for Grant at the Stars of Karting and will pull double duty at the WKA races when possible. A new addition, Dr. Brian Shafer has cleared his busy schedule, and will be tuning for Christian at the Stars of Karting races. We are very pleased, and thankful for the help of these two gentlemen, because without their help, we could not run the Stars of Karting program, given that the boys are split into different classes. If you have ever participated in a Stars race, you know exactly where we are coming from on this. THANKS AGAIN TO THESE TWO GREAT TEAM MEMBERS!

Other irons in the fire: We are working on team kart graphics, team shirts, and have engines out at Fleming, High Rev and Adkins. Hopefully all of our hardware will return soon so we can start training when the weather breaks.

Finally, at the request of Shane Walters, I have purchased some more boxes to store our stuff in! He took one look in our trailer, and immediately disgusted with the disorganization, made this most helpful recommendation. Shane, I have actually purchased some boxes to put the boxes in, so rest easy my friend!

Looking forward to seeing everyone at the races soon!
