Vogel Racing Releases Off Season Report

Written By: Vogel Racing

ST. LOUIS, MO (April 7th, 2010) Hello everyone, sorry for the delayed news but it’s been a hectic few years.  It is an exciting time for any racer in a cold region; It’s the end of winter!  After a long harsh winter the ground has thawed now we can go racing.  Winter is almost over and that means the race can begin.  It was torture to watch the racing down in Florida, but it gave us a glimpse of what the competition is like this year.

There have been a few changes to the driver line-up this year.  Grant has decided to set aside the cleats and get back behind the wheel of a kart, says with a smile “I got this”.  If everything goes to plan well he will compete is some of the WKA races and in some of the regional series.  The whole team is extremely confident in his abilities to bring home some hardware and is excited to watch him in action.  Christian is going to take on the senior category, primarily the TAG class.  He will be running in all of the remaining WKA man cup events and most likely a few CKI events.  He is extremely dedicated to the sport; he’s been training hard and is hungry for a win.  The team anticipates a good year from him, it is time!  The team principle (John Vogel, aka Pops) is also looking to get behind the wheel.  He is also training and eating right, with the exception of the occasional 32 oz strawberry concrete if he has a rough day, in preparation for the upcoming season.

The team has brought its attention to driver development.  We were hoping to get some on track time but due to the very cold winter, the team has focused on creating a top of the line workout schedule to get the drivers in shape for the upcoming season.  “We can only focus on the things we can control and hope that when the time comes we have prepared enough to beat the best” as prophesized by John Vogel.  Even though the only real way to get in shape is to get on the track, Christian and Grant are driven to produce good results and have been working hard and are ready for this year’s racing season.

Vogel Racing is very excited and extremely thankful to have Dan Bresler, who has been a loyal mechanic at our team for the past 4 years, back again for yet another year.  He is always hungry for win and has a genuine love for the sport.  He brings a great hard working attitude to the track and helps to keep the big man calm even when things aren’t going perfectly.  The team wouldn’t operate well without him; he’s our guy, Dan Bresler.

The team has decided with great enthusiasm to stick with the Tony Kart chassis.  The chassis has treated us very well and if we are off the pace it is rarely the karts fault.  We have also restored a couple old karts that we are going to use for testing.  Unfortunately the JICAs are worth more as paper weights than they do as an actual engine so we decided, because we can’t get enough of the screaming 19000 RPM powerhouse, to test on them until they pop.  No one on the team has really come to appreciate the Yamaha engine but we all agree that if we want high kart count that is the class to compete in.  The HPV is a good engine and we will be running it in the junior categories.  In the senior category, as of right now, we will be solely running the TAG Leopard package.

The team has already created a tentative schedule and by the look of things we are anticipating a phenomenal year.  The drivers are ready, the mechanics are ready, and Pops is ready.  We will see you all at the race track.

Vogel Racing would like to thank their Team & Associates. Those include; Walters Web Design, Vogel Heating and Cooling, High Rev Engineering, Tony Kart Florida and MRP/Birel.
